Terms of repayment

Terms of repayment when you are receiving financial assistance from the Ministère or the Québec Parental Insurance

Benefits unduly received must be repaid in full, either in a single lump sum or according to a repayment agreement reached with the Centre de Recouvrement.

The following methods of payment are available:

Pre-authorized debit

Pre-authorized debit mean that you don’t have to worry about cheques and overdue payments.

You can decide which day of the month the payment will be debited to your account.

If you haven’t signed a repayment agreement with the Centre de recouvrement

Contact a recovery officer. You can then sign up for pre-authorized debit.

If you have signed a repayment agreement with the Centre de recouvrement and you want to change your method of payment

To change your agreement and take advantage of pre-authorized debit, contact a recovery officer.

To report any changes regarding your bank account, contact a recovery officer and fill out the Repayment by pre-authorized debit formLien vers un site externe.

Electronic payment

To facilitate payment, the amount provided on your statement of account can be paid via a participating financial institution.

Online payment (via the Internet)

If you haven’t already, you must register with your banking institution’s online services.

Participating financial institutions

To make a payment:

  • Add « MTESS-Centre de recouvrement » as the supplier.
  • Add your file number as the reference number. The file number, which includes four letters followed by eight numbers (e.g., ABCD12345678), is found on your statement of account or any other document issued by the Centre de recouvrement.  

By telephone (Desjardins or National Bank only)

For more information, please contact either of the participating financial institutions.

Through an ATM or at a counter (Desjardins or National Bank only)

Use the tear-off portion of your account statement.

If you haven’t signed a repayment agreement with the Centre de recouvrement

Contact a recovery officer and sign up for the electronic payment method of your choice.

If you have signed a repayment agreement with the Centre de recouvrement using another method of payment

Contact a recovery officer to change your agreement and make your payment.

Cheque or money order

Your payment must be made out to the Ministre des Finances and you must include your file number on your cheques or money orders. The file number, which includes four letters followed by eight numbers (e.g., ABCD12345678), is found on your statement of account or any other document issued by the Centre de recouvrement.

Before sending us a cheque or money order, you need to contact a recovery agent in order to conclude a repayment agreement.
