The program is for workers who have been let go or laid off and who meet the following criteria:
have worked for an employer who operates a business in Québec;
are 55 to 59 years of age at the time of the dismissal or layoff;
have contributed for 20 years to the Régime de rentes du Québec or the Canada Pension Plan for 30 years preceding the dismissal or layoff;
were dismissed or laid off between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2013 (in the case of workers in the asbestos extraction sector), or were dismissed or laid off between April 1, 2009 and December 31, 2012 (for workers in the other sectors).
